Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Romance

The Angelina and Brad romance has been the focus of the gossip media and tabloids since just the tiniest hint of a relationship ever sparked.  What is now known as “Brangelina” began as quite the Hollywood scandal in early 2005. The media, and some of the public, accused Angelina Jolie of being a homewrecker and the cause of the divorce between what seemed a happy Hollywood couple, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt.  Despite the public attacks, Brad and Angelina have stuck it out and have six wonderful kids together.

It all started, so they say, on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in early 2005.  Angelina and Brad allegedly had an affair on the set, though it was denied vehemently.  Aniston filed for divorce in March 2005, while shooting was still taking place on Mr. & Mrs. Smith.  She cited irreconcilable differences.  However, later, the two did admit that they fell in love on the set, but the exact nature of the relationship was never disclosed and the two never publicly commented on the details.  Both made a point to mention that production was still going on after Pitt and Aniston filed for divorce.

For months Angelina and Brad’s coupledom was speculation, though photos in the tabloids and press seemed to confirm it.  Pictures of Brad, Angelina, and Maddox (her son) were snapped of the three on a beach in Kenya in April 2005.  The two were together in Ethiopia where Angelina would eventually adopt her second child, Zahara, in July of that same year.  After that, a series of pictures seemed to show the relationship blooming.

It wasn’t until January 2006 that Angelina confirmed to the press (People magazine) that she was indeed pregnant with Brad’s child, which obviously officially confirmed the relationship to the world.  Around that same time, Brad officially adopted both Maddox and Zahara, whose last names would become Jolie-Pitt.  With a baby bump in tow and a hot and heavy romance, speculation of when the two would marry began popping up.  In a direct response to such rumors, Brad said in an interview with Esquire (October 2006) that they would marry “when everyone else in the country who wants to be married legally is able.”  A poignant cue to the world that the two support gay marriage rights, which seems obvious given their incredible humanitarian efforts.

After the birth of their first biological child together, Shiloh, in May 2006, the super couple decided to expand their brood.  So, in March of 2007, they made a trip to Vietnam and adopted Pax.  Because of legal restrictions of the country, Angelina adopted him as a single mother and finalized Brad’s adoption in the United States.

With four kids already, at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival Angelina and Brad announced that they were once again expecting – this time twins! Later that summer, Angelina would give birth to Vivienne and Knox, the couple’s youngest children.  In interviews about the continual growth of their family, the two joked that they would love to have their own soccer team!

With the couple going strong in family, career, and humanitarian efforts, it certainly seems like they wouldn’t have time for each other, but they make it work.  The Angelina and Brad romance has outlasted quite a few other Hollywood romances and looks like it’s going strong.  And who knows, maybe they will eventually get their own soccer team!
