Angelina Jolie has built an impressive filmography with award-winning roles and excellent acting. In 2000, she won the Actress of the Year award at the Hollywood Film Festival. Salt (2010) – In Salt, Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a highly regarded CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian Spy and is forced to go on the run to save her husband and her identity. Salt is currently in production.
Wanted (2008) – Costarring Morgan Freeman and Terence Stamp, Wanted is a thriller in which Jolie plays an assassin. The film focuses on the plight of an average office worker who discovers his father is a professional killing machine and that he shares Dad’s talents.
Changeling (2008) – Changeling was directed by Clint Eastwood and tells the true story of Christine Collins in 1928 Los Angeles. Collins’ son, Walter, is abducted and returned by the LAPD, but only to reveal that the child they returned is not really the missing child. Jolie was nominated for multiple awards for this role including the Best Actress Academy Award, Golden Globe, Saturn, and BAFTA. She won the Satellite Best Actress in a Drama.
Kung Fu Panda (2008) – Providing her voice for Tigress in Kung Fu Panda, the animated film tells the tale of Po, who has been chosen as the Dragon Warrior. Po is an overweight panda with no fighting skills whatsoever.
Beowulf (2007) – Jolie plays Grendel’s mother in Beowulf. The film tells the age-old tale of the Beowulf’s quest to extinguish the monster Grendel’s killings. In retaliation, Grendel’s mother begins killing as well.
A Mighty Heart (2007) – Marianne Pearl, played by Jolie, goes on a search for her missing journalist husband, Daniel Pearl, who has been abducted and murdered. Jolie won the Outstanding Performance Award from the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
The Good Shepherd (2006) – The Good Shepherd tells the story of the early history of the Central Intelligence Agency as it affected the life of one man. Jolie plays Clover, the lover of one of the earliest CIA agents in this Oscar nominated tale.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) – In Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jolie plays Jane Smith, a seemingly “plain Jane” bored but perfect housewife. Brad Pitt plays John Smith, an equally bored yet seemingly perfect husband. The story reveals that both are assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other. Jolie and Pitt won the Best Fight MTV Movie Award and the Best Kiss NRJ Ciné Award. Jolie also won the Teen Choice Awards for Best Movie Actress in an Action/Adventure/Thriller, Choice Movie Liar, and Choice Movie Rumble (with Pitt).
Alexander (2004) – Alexander tells the story of Alexander the Great, played by Colin Farrell. Olympias, played by Jolie, advises the young king as he rules Macedonia and conquers much of the world.
The Fever (2004) – The Fever is a small yet powerful film that tells the story of a woman who decides to get into politics with no previous interest or experience in world events. Jolie plays a revolutionary in the film.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) – Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is a groundbreaking film that depicts New York City being attacked by giant robots as a young reporter (Gwnyeth Paltrow) breaks the story of a disappearing scientist. Jolie plays Franky, a crafty airship pilot and was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Actress.
Shark Tale (2004) – Lending her voice to Lola, Angelina Jolie costars in Shark Tale with Will Smith, Robert De Niro, and Renee Zellweger. It is the tale of gangster sharks in the deep blue sea.
Taking Lives (2004) – In this thriller starring Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke, a serial killer is on the loose adopting the identity of each victim he murders. Jolie plays the FBI profiler that helps French Canadian police track the killer down.
Beyond Borders (2003) – The epic tale of star-crossed lovers and a turbulent affair has it all – love, loss, adventure, danger, and heartbreak across the world. The film stars Jolie, Clive Owen, and Linus Roache.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) – Angelina Jolie is back reprising her role as Lara Croft, well-revered video game heroine. In this sequel, Lara Croft is on the quest to save Pandora’s Box.
Life or Something Like It (2002) – In this romantic comedy, Angelina Jolie plays a television reporter who lives life to the fullest after interviewing a homeless man who tells her she will die and that her life has meant nothing. Edward Burns costars as her love interest.
Original Sin (2001) – Original Sin tells the story of love, obsession, desire, and lies. In this story of mistaken identity, Jolie plays a femme fatale whose heart a young man cannot seem to grasp.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) – Jolie won the Best Actress Saturn Award for her role as Lara Croft, beloved video game adventurer, in this film based on the game of the same name. In it she encounters challenges, adventure, and villains all on a quest to save ancient artifacts.
Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) – In this high octane film starring Jolie, Nicholas Cage, and Giovanni Ribisi, audiences are wowed and thrilled with high speed chases and high action sequences. Gone in Sixty Seconds tells the store of a retired master car thief forced back into the industry to steal 50 cars in one night to save his little brother’s life. Jolie won the Favorite Supporting Actress – Drama Blockbuster Entertainment Award.
Girl, Interrupted (1999) – Girl, Interrupted, based on the memoir of Susanna Kaysen, tells the story of misguided female youth and an 18-month stay in a 1960s mental hospital. Jolie plays Lisa Rowe, a particularly disturbed young woman that gained her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, the Favorite Supporting Actress – Drama Blockbuster Entertainment Award, the Best Supporting Actress Critics Choice Award, and the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe.
The Bone Collector (1999) –The Bone Collector, based on the novel of the same name by Jeffery Deaver, tells the tale of a quadriplegic homicide detective and his female partner who track down and stop a serial killer. Denzel Washington plays the detective and Jolie plays his partner.
Pushing Tin (1999) – When a feud develops between two Long Island air traffic controllers (Billy Bob Thornton and John Cusack) their lives are inevitably changed. Jolie has a supporting role as Thornton’s eccentric wife. Cate Blanchett also stars.
Playing by Heart (1998) – In her Breakthrough Performance NBR Award winning role, Jolie stuns audiences in this film focusing on affairs of the heart. The film tells several tales that eventually converge at the end to stitch all the stories and characters together.
Hell’s Kitchen (1998) – Hell’s Kitchen is a thrilling tale of what happens when a robbery goes awry and the wrong person is punished. The story goes into an ex-con trying to make things right and a life for himself.
Gia (1998) – Gia tells the tragic tale of fashion model Gia Marie Carangi, played brilliantly by Jolie. Jolie won a series of awards for her role including the Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie Golden Globe, Emmy, Satellite, and SAG Awards.
Playing God (1997) – Starring Timothy Hutton, Playing God tells the story of a doctor stripped of his medical license due to drug use. He is eventually lured into the criminal world and becomes involved with his criminal boss’ lady love.
George Wallace (1997) – This made-for-TV movie is based on the book by Marshall Frady and tells the true tale of George Wallace, whose lust for power would ultimately be his downfall. Jolie won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for TV for her role as Cornelia Wallace.
True Women (1997) – This saga of adventure, war, and love spans five decades and depicts the era from the Texas Revolution to the beyond Reconstruction.
Foxfire (1996) – Jolie stars in Foxfire, a poignant tale of five teenage girls who bond after attacking a male teacher who had previously sexually harassed them. It is a story of female friendship, courage, and what happens when things slip out of control.
Mojave Moon (1996) – In one of Jolie’s earlier films, we see the convoluted and strange tale of young love, betrayal, and confusion. Mojave Moon is filled with a dark comedic theme.
Love Is All There Is (1996) – Love Is All There Is tells the classic Romeo and Juliet in a revamped and modern way. Taking place in the Bronx in the 1990s, two families in the food service industry battle it out.
Hackers (1995) – Hackers quickly became a cult classic after its release. It tells the tale of a teenage boy (Jonny Lee Miller) arrested by the Secret Service for hacking into government computers. As he and his mother make a new life, he ends up saving the world from a dangerous computer virus and falling in love with rival hacker, “Acid Burn” played by Jolie.
Without Evidence (1995) - Without Evidence is the true story of the murder of Michael Francke, Oregon’s Head of Corrections.
Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hell II – Picture Show (1994) – Directed by Michael Bay, Jolie is uncredited in this work and consists of three different music videos, three live performances, and interviews.
Cyborg 2 (1993) – This futuristic tale follows a humanlike cyborg called Casella Reese, or Cash, that is designed to seduce her way through the world and self-detonate. Things get complicated when she begins to have feelings.
Alice & Viril (1993) – Jolie stars in this two minute short film by director Steven Shainberg.
Lookin’ to Get Out (1982) – In her first film role, costarring with her father, Jon Voight, Jolie is seen in the story of two gamblers on the run from New York City after a big loss. They end up in Las Vegas, where the story really begins.

The Basterds are intended to put the fear of God into the Third Reich as they make their way through Europe scalping and mutilating Nazis.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) – Based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tells the story of Benjamin, played by Pitt, who ages backwards and the bizarre life he leads because of it. Pitt was nominated for an Oscar for his role.
Burn After Reading (2008) – The Coen brothers’ story about being middle-aged stars Brad Pitt as Chad Feldheimer, a simple-minded gym employee. The story focuses on a CD of an ex-CIA agent’s memoirs that have fallen into the hands of Pitt and his friend (played by Frances McDormand) who attempt to sell it to the Russians.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) – Jesse James, played by Pitt, has been idolized by Robert Ford for years. Ford eventually is able to meet up with his childhood idol and join his reforming bandit team of outlaws, but soon becomes resentful and murders James. Pitt won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) – Pitt is back as Rusty Ryan along with an ensemble cast as Danny Ocean’s team. As they prepare for the third heist, a casino owner double crosses one of their team and causes complications. Brad Pitt and George Clooney won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite On-Screen Match-up.
Babel (2006) – Babel brings to life four different families and the tragedies that strike each of them. Pitt and the rest of the cast won the Best Ensemble Cast Gotham Award and the Best Ensemble Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Troy (2004) – Troy is Brad Pitt’s biggest blockbuster to date and is an adaptation of Homer’s epic. Pitt plays Achilles as the film follows the assault on Troy by the Greek forces. Pitt won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actor in a Drama/Action Adventure.
Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003) – Pitt lends his voice to the lead character, Sinbad, in this animated tale of Sinbad and the seven seas. In the story, Sinbad is framed by Eris, a goddess, for the theft of the Book of Peace. He must travel to her realm to retrieve the book and save his friend Prince Proteus.
Full Frontal (2002) – Full Frontal is a film within a film that tells the story of the day in the life of a group of people in Hollywood. The film takes place in the hours leading up to a friend’s birthday party.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) – Pitt makes a small cameo appearance as Brad, Bachelor #1 in the segment depicting Chuck Barris’ “The Dating Game.” Confessions of a Dangerous Mind tells the supposedly true story of Chuck Barris’ double life as a CIA hitman.
Ocean’s Eleven (2001) – Pitt plays Rusty Ryan, one of Danny Ocean’s ten accomplices. In this exciting heist movie Ocean’s eleven scheme and plan to rob several Las Vegas casinos all at once. Ocean’s Eleven is a remake of the classic rat pack film of the same name.
Spy Game (2001) – Spy Game is a thrilling tale of retiring CIA agent Nathan Muir (Robert Redford) as he recalls his training of Tom Bishop (Brad Pitt) as he attempts to free him from his Chinese captors. In the story, Muir works against bureaucrats, agency politics, and Chinese terrorists.
The Mexican (2001) – As his girlfriend (Julia Roberts) pressures Jerry (Pitt) to get out of the criminal lifestyle, he is forced to transport an ancient cursed gun known as The Mexican, south of the border.
Snatch. (2000) – Guy Ritchie knows how to tell a heist story and that’s exactly what you get with Snatch. Pitt plays Mickey O’Neil, a boxer with such a thick Irish accent no one can understand him. In the film Mickey and his pals try to swindle Jewish jewelers, Russian gangsters, and violent bookies for a couple of diamonds.
Fight Club (1999) – David Fincher’s exciting film became a cult classic almost as soon as it opened in theaters. Pitt plays Tyler Durden, an eccentric soap salesman, and costars Edward Norton as a dull office employee. The two of them build a male-oriented organization to help vent aggression.
Meet Joe Black (1998) – In this late-in-life coming of age story, Brad Pitt plays the young man in the coffee shop as well as Joe Black (death). In the film, Pitt helps a media mogul, played by Anthony Hopkins, ease into death as he learns about earth. In the process Joe Black falls in love with Hopkins’ daughter.
The Dark Side of the Sun (1997) – Simply, the two lovers in the Dark Side of the Sun need a miracle in order for their love to survive as one of them fights a rare skin disease.
Seven Years in Tibet (1997) – This true story tells the tale of Austrian mountain climber, Heinrich Harrer, who befriended the Dalai Lama during China’s takeover of Tibet. Pitt’s work as Harrer won him the Best Actor Audience Award at the Rembrandt Awards.
The Devil’s Own (1997) – The Devil’s Own is a thriller in which an American family is dragged into the crossfire of Irish terrorism as they house an IRA gunman unbeknownst to them. Pitt plays IRA agent Rory Devaney, also known as Francis Austin McGuire.
Sleepers (1996) – A group of young boys are sent to a detention center where they are abused after a prank went wrong. Ten years later, the boys get their revenge. Pitt plays Michael Sullivan in this highly acclaimed film.
Twelve Monkeys (1995) – No one plays a crazy better than Brad Pitt. In a world suffering from disease, a convict (Bruce Willis) is forced to travel back in time to get information on how the world was damaged so significantly in the 1990s. Pitt was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar but did not win. He did receive the Best Supporting Actor Saturn, Blockbuster Entertainment, Golden Globe, and Universe Reader’s Choice Awards.
Se7en (1995) – As Detective David Mills, Pitt must stop serial killer (played by Kevin Spacey) who targets victims and kills based on the seven deadly sins. Partnered with Morgan Freeman, Pitt discovers the true meaning of wrath as he wins the Most Desirable Male MTV Movie Award.
Legends of the Fall (1994) – Forever burned into the minds of women everywhere, Legends of the Fall had everyone pining for Brad Pitt. In the Oscar-winning film, he plays Tristan Ludlow, one of three brothers living with their father in the wilderness of the USA in the early 1900s. Pitt won a Bronze Wrangler at the Western Heritage Awards for his work in this tale of love, war, history, and nature.
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) – Based on Anne Rice’s bestselling novel of the same name, Pitt plays Louis de Pointe du Lac, a lonely, sad, and very human vampire. Pitt won multiple awards for this film, including the MTV Movie Awards for Best Male Performance and Most Desirable Male as well as the Razzie Award for Worst Screen Couple with Tom Cruise.
The Favor (1994) – The Favor is a story of what could have been and missed opportunities. Pitt plays Elliott Fowler, a boyfriend caught in the jealous love triangle of two best friends and the man they both wish they had.
True Romance (1993) – True Romance is a beloved cult classic by many. It follows two lovers, Clarence and Alabama, as they steal cocaine from Alabama’s pimp, try to sell the drug in Hollywood, and run from the coke’s rightful owners. Pitt makes a hilarious appearance as Floyd, Dick’s roommate.
Kalifornia (1993) – Brad Pitt plays Early Grayce, a crazy serial killer accompanying two unaware journalists on a tour of murder sites. This is one of Pitt’s more disturbing roles.
A River Runs Through It (1992) – One of Pitt’s major early roles, A River Runs Through It tells the story of Paul Maclean (Pitt) and his brother. The sons of a Presbyterian minister are polar opposites growing up and fly-fishing in rural Montana.
Cool World (1992) – Cool World is part live action, part animation and Pitt stars as Detective Frank Harris. In the film, a comic strip femme fatale tries to seduce her creator so that she may cross over into the real world.
Contact (1992) - Brad Pitt plays the character Cox in this short film which was nominated for an Oscar. The film was written and directed by Jonathan Darby. It should not be confused with the Carl Sagan film.
Johnny Suede (1991) – Johnny Suede is the directorial debut of Tom DiCillo and stars Brad Pitt, Catherine Keener, and quick cameos by Nick Cave and Samuel L. Jackson. Johnny Suede, played by Pitt, has hair to remember and learns a lot about life from a single pair of black suede shoes.
Thelma & Louise (1991) – Quite possibly Pitt’s breakthrough role, Thelma & Louise is an award-winning cult classic feminist tale and good old-fashioned buddy movie, but with chicks. Pitt plays J.D., a seductive cowboy that beds Geena Davis’ character only to rip her off by morning.
Across the Tracks (1991) – Across the Tracks is the story of two rival brothers from the other side of the tracks. The film pits the two brothers against each other as they each compete on their school’s track team and try for a better future.
Too Young to Die? (1990) – In Too Young to Die? Pitt stars as Billy Canton in this cautionary tale of an abused teenager that is charged with murder. Juliette Lewis costars in this fact-based story about the death penalty and what happened when a child is charged as an adult.
The Image (1990) – This television movie depicts TV journalism and its cutthroat competitive streak. Starring Albert Finney, Kathy Baker, Spalding Gray, and Swoosie Kurtz the film is casted well.
Cutting Class (1989) – Pitt plays Dwight Ingalls in this silly high school “whodunit” murder mystery.
Happy Together (1989) – Starring Patrick Dempsey and Helen Slater, this quintessential late 1980s flick tells the story of ambitious college freshmen, love, and sexual experimentation.
A Stoning in Fulham County (1988) – Pitt plays Theodore ‘Teddy’ Johnson in this made-for-TV movie about religious fanaticism and how it affects the legal system. The film tells the tale of an Amish infant killed in the rural community.
Less Than Zero (1987) – Pitt is uncredited in this film about a college student returning to Los Angeles for the holidays to see his girlfriend, only to discover his best friend’s out-of-control drug habit.
